Join your friends at the Tender Life Maternity Home Walk! Registration at 9:00am Saturday, March 5, at The River Church. The walk will start at 9:45. We will have more information and sponsorship forms available this week.
The Tender Life Walk is a great way to involve your family and friends in a fun, charitable experience. The walk is less than 2 miles. Simply ask people you know to sponsor you in support of Tender Life Maternity Home, a nonprofit program that provides pregnant women with safe housing and supportive services.
“These babies are being born whether we help nurture them or not. We want to give them a fighting chance at a healthy beginning,” said Karen Johnson, Tender Life’s manager. “It is through this belief that Tender Life provides peace, healing and restoration of the soul.”
A long-time resident of Ventura County, Karen Johnson started her vocation volunteering as a “cuddler” in the NICU at St. John’s Hospital. Now with a degree in Human Service/Management, Karen has found her niche and enjoys mentoring the young women who walk through the doors of Tender Life Maternity Home in Ventura.
For 30 years, Tender Life Maternity Home, a program of Project Understanding, has offered a loving and supportive environment for women who desire to carry their babies to term but lack the necessary means to do so. Devoted to serving at-risk pregnant women and their babies, Tender Life provides food, shelter and personal growth opportunities in a caring home where “courage meets compassion to build new lives.”
